I discovered Conrad NYC Downtown, in the Battery Park City area of Manhattan around 2019 and I’ve been a fairly regular guest ever since. When I’m in New York City with my kids, I pretty much default to the Conrad, though I will admit that lately I’ve been exploring other options for luxury family suites in New York City.
Business and family travelers share a common need when it comes to hotel rooms: they usually want a bit of extra space, ideally good separation of the living space from the bedroom — this is especially the case when sharing a hotel room with kids.
Deluxe Suites
Conrad NYC Downtown is an all-suite hotel, and each suite has separate a living and bedroom. Entry level suites are named “Deluxe Suites”, they vary in size from 430 to 450 square feet.
If you’re like me and you must always stay in corner rooms, you’ll find that online travel agents like hotels.com, booking.com, even hilton.com, don’t have an option to book a corner Deluxe Suite at the Conrad Downtown. But not to worry, you can request one at check-in and generally the front desk staff is very accommodative unless the hotel is sold out, which rarely happens.
Luxury Corner Suite
The Luxury Corner Suite is a significant upgrade to a Deluxe Suite. For starters, it’s 750 square feet vs. 405 square feet for the Deluxe Suite and most of this extra square footage is in the living room. The 300 sq. ft. of extra space makes a meaningful difference, the Luxury Corner Suite feels more like a small apartment than a suite.
Executive Suite with One King Bed
There are two varieties of the Executive Suite with One King Bed, one is 450 sq. ft., and the other is 700 sq. ft. Besides the size difference, the 700 sq. ft. variety has an option to connect to a Deluxe Suite. Other than this, the Executive Suite with One King Bed is almost identical to the Deluxe Suite.
Conrad Suite
If you’re looking for the ultimate suite experience at Conrad Downtown consider this 1,500 square foot presidential penthouse 3-room suite with 1 king bed and huge dining room, and of course the living space with sofa.

Beyond the Suites at Conrad New York
I love a good luxury suite but what surrounds the hotel is just as important as the hotel itself, and Conrad New York Downtown is in a great neighborhood.
There are two entrances into the hotel, one on the south end of the building and the other on the west end. Across the street of the south hotel exit (Vessey street) is Brookfield Place, an indoor mall consisting of dozens of boutique retail outlets, a handful of interesting restaurants with easy access to the Oculus at World Trade Center, home to yet another mall with even more stores and restaurants and major transportation links via subway and New Jersey Transit. Also, here you’ll be located just steps away from 9/11 Memorial and Museum.
Across the street of the west exit (North End Avenue) is the Irish Hunger Memorial which commemorates the great Irish famine. If you venture further west of the memorial, you’ll find a small but popular playground called Rockefeller Park Playground. My kids will vouch for how entertaining this park is! Regardless of the season, this little but very well-maintained playground is busy with local and visiting families, it can be quite the social scene.
Of course, venture further out from the Conrad NYC Downtown and you’ll stubble upon even more great sites and things to do, Battery Park City is a safe, clean and relaxing park of NYC.
